Billy Justason

Hi, My name is Billy Justason and I am a member of Curl Moncton in New Brunswick.  I have a wonderful wife Carol and two amazing children Stephanie and Robbie.  I am a retired Machinist/Industrial Mechanic and worked for the New Brunswick Power Commission at the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station for over 32 years.  Prior to that I worked at the largest Sardine producing plant in the world at Connors Bros. Ltd in Blacks Harbour NB where I took my initial trades training.

I have been a member of Curl Moncton (through the Beaver CC and Beausejour CC) since 2000 and previously was a member of the Brunswick Curling Club in Blacks Harbour New Brunswick.  In 2002 I was given a Lifetime Membership of that club for service over a 31-year period.

I have spent my entire curling career since 1969 volunteering in one way or another in every position in a curling club (Executive, Board of Dir, Bartender, Cook, Cleaner etc) as I am sure most of the tourists have as well.  I have competed at the club and provincial level many times and have no less that 8 provincial runner ups to be proud of.  I am proud to say that I was a Vice Director of Facilities at the 2009 World Curling Championships in Moncton as well as Vice Chair of Facilities for the Inaugural Canadian U-18 championships held this year in Moncton.  I have also volunteered in several Canadian Briers as well.  I don’t think I will ever get away from the roaring game, eventually taking up coaching or officiating to stay active.

Away from curling I enjoy volunteering with my wife at many charity events for causes such as Heart and Stroke Foundation, Parkinson’s Research as well as others within our community. I have also been involved in Municipal Politics prior to moving to Moncton for 12 years as well as other sports including Baseball, Fastball, Basketball, and Golf.  Non-sporting enjoyment for me comes from spending time with our families as well as trying to get time for some photography as well as the odd Karaoke song.

I am looking forward to taking part in the tour after previously having to withdraw my name over health issues but all is good now.  Hoping to meet many future friends.
