North Tour

Stan Turner

Hi, I’m Stan Turner from Delta, British Columbia.  I am a retired Communications Engineer.

As a divorced father of 4 children, Laura, Rebecca, Lindsay, and Christopher (Chris), and 5, soon to be 6, grand-children, I was involved with kids in sport, (hockey, ringette, fastball, and basketball) for many years.

I curl at the Peace Arch Curling Club in Whiterock where I sit on the Club Board as the technology representative.  I hold the position of Secretary/Treasurer for Zone 2 of the Pacific Coast Masters Curling Association, of which Peace Arch is one of eight clubs in the Zone. Currently I am reorganizing and clarifying rules of play for Bonspiels and playdowns within Zone 2.

I recently moved to Tsawwassen and have now also joined the Tunnel Town Curling Club in Tsawwassen, and am happily getting involved with the bonspiels in Zone 3 of the PCMCA.

In my earlier life, I owned a 100 acre Hobby Farm for 10 years, and learned the hard way how to raise cows and horses, chickens, ducks, turkeys, goats, and rabbits for my children’s entertainment.  I contracted the building of the family home on the farm, from my own design, and designed the barn and built it with the help of neighbours, and still love the rural life.

I am a Club curler, off and on for 30 years, have had moments, flying 1450 Km from Ottawa to Dartmouth to enter a 128 team bonspiel, winning a few Senior bonspiels and an Open Mixed bonspiel.

I’m generally athletic and like to keep fit with tennis. I have become an avid lawn bowler in the summer and like to grow my hair long to go with my Australian hat which matches my victory picture after winning the Vancouver & District Singles title in 2013.  In my downtime, I play bridge to keep my mind sharp, and have fun with my electronic keyboard for a little musical entertainment.
