Meet Jim Farquharson

Hi, I’m from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.

A retired Agricultural Account Manager with RBC Royal Bank, I curl out of the Cornwall Curling Club in Cornwall, PEI where I have participated at both the recreational and competitive levels including several PEI Men’s and Mixed Provincial Playdowns and was a member of the 2007 PEI Senior Mixed Championship Team.

Past President and Board of Directors at the Cornwall CC, I continue to participate in various volunteer roles including the 1999 Scott Tournament of Hearts. A Level I Official I have worked at several Men, Women and Junior Championships in the province including the 2006 Canadian Senior’s Championship.
Had the pleasure of playing against the 2003 Scots Centenary Team during Scotland’s first ever Strathcona Cup visit to the Island and participated in the Welcome Banquet.
I have been a Lions Club member in two Provinces, served as a miner hockey coach, Boy Scout leader, fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association and the Alzheimer Society of Canada, have served on the Board of Directors for the Tyne Valley Miner Hockey Association and the Tyne Valley-Ellerslie Community School Association, and I sing in a choir that performs at senior’s homes.
In my spare time I enjoy attending PEI Senior’s College studying computers, genealogy and PEI history. An avid golfer I play at the Red Sands Golf and Country Club. In my younger years, hockey, softball, volleyball and badminton were my passions. I enjoy cross country skiing, walking, bridge, singing, coin collecting, travelling, communicating, money management, cooking and “meeting people”!
